And putting WoW on Gamepass wouldn't just do very little to remove those barriers, it would actually make the existing problems even more apparent to even more people. The sub is a barrier to entry for some people, but my suspicion is there's many other barriers to entry that are actually more relevant - such as the game's age, the problematic new-player experience, poorly accessible lore etc. Those are all premier reason for not putting WoW on Gamepass, but for continuing on with the existing sub model for as long as possible. WoW is the perfect example for what you need to keep a subscription model around in 2023: a long-standing IP, a strong history of this revenue model, an entrenched and invested core player base, and weak appeal to new customers. It's hard to say because of course we have no access to the actual financial information that would govern such a decision, but intuitively I'd say I'd highly doubt this is going to happen.
